Sculptra has been FDA approved since 2004 for use in the face for volume loss. Sculptra works by stimulating your own body to produce collagen in response to the Poly L Lactic Acid, it’s main component.
The correction is seen immediately but that subsides rather quickly because it is mostly saline. Over the next few weeks, collagen is gradually built up from the injections, and the appearance of your results improve. Optimal results usually occur 2-3 months after the Sculptra treatment, and commonly last somewhere between 2 to 3 years, varying on a case-by-case basis. Side effects are rare, with the most common being swelling, bruising and redness around the treatment site.
